History of JASOL Oils – Legacy of Ignacy Łukasiewicz
The JASOL brand is not only modern technology and high-class lubricating oils, but first and foremost an heir to the great Polish oil industry tradition. Its history dates back to the 19th century, when oil pioneers, led by Ignacy Łukasiewicz, initiated the development of oil refining in Poland.
1854 – Birth of the Oil Industry – one of the world’s first oil mines was established in Bóbrka (Poland) by Ignacy Łukasiewicz, Tytus Trzecieski and Karol Klobass-Zrencki. This was a landmark moment that gave rise to the global oil industry and contributed to the establishment of the first distilleries and refineries.
1856 – The first industrial distillery in Poland and one of the first in the world to process crude oil was established in Ulaszowice. This was a major step towards the industrial use of crude oil and marked the beginning of the development of modern lubricant technology.
1888 – Construction began on the Mineralölwerke Gartenberg & Schreier refinery, which in the following years became one of the key centres for oil processing in the region. In 1988, to mark its 100th anniversary, the refinery was named after Ignacy Lukasiewicz, highlighting its historical links with the oil industry pioneer.
JASOL – Continuing the Legacy
The JASOL brand draws inspiration from the great heritage of Ignacy Łukasiewicz and other pioneers of the Polish oil industry. It was their achievements that allowed the development of modern lubricant technology and set the standards that JASOL continues today, combining tradition with innovation.
